About Rebellion Productions, LLC
Rebellion Productions, LLC is an organization committed to the development and production of great dramatic works while fusing artistic vision with commercial value. Rebellion Productions, LLC was formed by Steven Sendor in late 2000. Its first production was the critically lauded Off-Broadway Premiere of Austin Pendleton's "Uncle Bob" at the SoHo Playhouse in the spring of 2001. The production starred George Morfogen (HBO's "OZ") as Bob. The role was actually originally written by Pendleton for Morfogen to play. Opposite George, as Bob's nephew Josh, was Gale Harold (Showtime's "Queer As Folk"). Mid-way through the run Harold was replaced by Joseph Gordon Levitt, who was fresh off the series finale of NBC's hit sitcom "3rd Rock From The Sun."
Sendor went on to work with legendary theatre director Frank Dunlop, CBE, the former director of the British National Theatre, co-creator of the Young Vic Theatre in London (with Sir Lawrence Olivier), and creator of the Edinburgh Play Festival, on the world premiere of Ed Dixon's comic play "Scenery" starring veteran theatre actors Marilyn Sokol and Clive Revill.
In 2004, Sendor partnered with friend Christian Campbell, who was most recently seen playing Aidan Quinn's son on the short-lived but critically well-received NBC show "The Book Of Daniel." Apart from his career as an actor, which also includes roles on television in series such as Darren Starr's "The Street," Aaron Spelling's "Malibu Shores" and Daytime Drama "All My Children," in movies ("Trick"), and on the stage; "tick... tick... BOOM!," "Reefer Madness" (as well as the Showtime tele-movie version), Campbell has also stayed close to the theatre throughout the last decade as a producer and director. His passion for live theatre led Campbell to acquire the Lexington Theatre in Hollywood in 1997 and then form its resident theatre company, Blue Sphere Alliance. Of the many original plays produced at the theatre, Campbell is most proud of "Nagasaki Dust," in which he performed the lead role, and "Reach," in which he directed Matthew Lillard. Campbell's theatrical background also includes a European tour of Lope de Vega's classic Spanish drama, "Der Ritter Von Mirakel," and appearing in the long-running German production of "A Clockwork Orange."
Christian and Steven were introduced by a mutual acquaintance who was aware of their common interest and work in theatre and, more importantly, how it should be produced; with equal respect for and concentration on the creative and business aspects. Christian and Steven were in total agreement on the possibility of merging art with commercial viability. Both had proved this with their own productions.
Shortly after the partnership began, Rebellion Productions, LLC officially announced an Off-Broadway revival of Michael Weller’s “Loose Ends” to be directed by Austin Pendleton. Casting will be announced soon.
“Loose Ends” is the story of two people who are very much in love with each other yet, for all their good intentions, strong feelings, and efforts, cannot seem to make their relationship work, mostly because of their own personal goals and conflicts. “Loose Ends” is one of the most beautiful, powerful, funny, heartbreaking plays in American theatre in the past thirty years or so. Its resonance will be richer now more than ever. There is a reason the play has been a staple of acting classes everywhere for years.
